I noticed that Jetpack provides access to the WP.me Shortlinks module, but is that true without payment?
All to often plugins claim to be FREE, and indeed the plugin in free but use of the plugin is not. Bazinga!!
The only foreseeable use I can think of, as of now, is shortening the URL of a link to a .pdf. When the pdf is presented, it exposes a URL that in my opinion is TMI.
Can I install Jetpack, access the WP.me Shortlinks module, and disable all else?
Thanks for your help.

We have a guy who’s been working with our backend and created a copy of our site to work on… however, when he did this something went wrong and all of our previously created wp.me short links are pointing to his dummy url and a 403 page.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue and have the wp.me short links directing traffic to the correct pages?
Please and thank you!

how can i remove this Shortlink from my WordPress website ?
regards,
Tomer.
I have enabled both the Publicize and WP.me short urls modules in my wordpress installation, but whenever I make a post on my blog, this gets shared on both facebook and twitter with the full url instead of the shortened one.
I’m using the last version of both WordPress and Jetpack.
I usually save posts as drafts before sharing them, no idea if this creates some sort of problem.
How can I tell Publicize to use the WP.me shortlinks instead of full URLs?
Thank you!
]]>Note: I know of one “solution” but I’ll address that at the end of this post.
What I’m using:
WP 4.2.2
Jetpack 3.5.3
URL: www.johnrothra.com
When publicizing a new post to social media, Jetpack is including both the shortened URL and the full URL. This significantly eats into the characters available for Twitter and results in erasing some content I want included.
For example, on one post I said to use the following 107 characters:
SBC Decline Continues, Church Planting Rises https://wp.me/p4JEEr-1iy #1XEvangelism #evangelism #Crossover15
What it posted was different, erasing my last two hashtags. Below are screen shots showing various things:

What’s Active in Jetpack (incl. wp.me shortlinks): https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4mnNZ1F-EDsdUUwT0lvUHF4WVE/view?usp=sharing

I know one “solution” (more like a workaround for a possible bug or wrong setting) is to simply delete the shortened URL from the info in the publicize section of the post authoring screen. However, this doesn’t solve the problem, only works around the problem.

]]>I finally came across a post where someone had said they disconnected Jetpack and reconnected, fixing the problem. I clearly didn’t spend enough time thinking what that could mean, and just did it myself. I have now lost all of my stats I’d been collecting for the last two years. To top that, tweets are now just not being sent, so I’ll have to go and reconnect ALL of my services to make sure nothing is missed.
The loss of all of my stats is just too high a price to pay for switching domains. I’m sure that, from WP’s point of view, there’s a perfectly reasonable explanation for why you can’t just migrate stats, but they’ll just be excuses. In retrospect, I should have just asked Jeremy to fix my settings, though I’m sure the same thing would have happened to my stats. But, I have a bigger problem.
In all of the posts where Jeremy fixed the issue for people and those same people and others asked him how he did it, he never answered one of them. We have no idea how this change is made. There appears to be no FAQ page answering the question. There is no official information I can find.
Not all people using WP are noobs. Some of us are actual developers and we like to understand how things work and why things happen. Please rectify this glaring issue or point me to the place where I should have found the answers.
