A someone using the Event Organiser Venue Markers reported a conflict between that plug-in and Page Google Maps.
Testing it seems that this occurs only 3.8 or 3.8.1 (3.7, for instance I found no conflict). I’ve not looked into why there’s that discrepancy but I suspect that perhaps WordPress updated the backbone/underscore libraries(?).
In any case the error is because both Page Google Maps and WordPress both load Backbone/Underscore. The Backbone/Underscore libraries have been bundled with WordPress since 3.5 – so fixing the conflict is just a matter of using the WordPress versions as a dependency rather than the plug-in’s versions if WP3.5+ is being run (assuming you want to maintain compatibility with WP3.4 and earlier).
Also (and this would probably also fix the conflict) Page Google Maps loads its admin scripts on every admin page – if you conditionally loaded it on the admin pages where it was needed, that would also avoid other conflicts. (Using get_current_screen()
is useful for that: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Function_Reference/get_current_screen).
As for the user with the conflict, I told him to comment out the dependencies (lines 214/215 of page-google-maps.php
) and then add ‘backbone’ and ‘underscore’ as dependencies in pgm-resource-loader.php

Many thanks!

is there a way to disable features so its not so memory hungry on the backend?
]]>I’m just wondering what the significant difference between WordPress 3.6 and 3.7/3.8 is on a Windows IIS install.
I can complete the web-based setup fine from start to finish with 3.6, but 3.7 and 3.8 won’t create the wp_config.php file.
I can install 3.6 and update to 3.7 (or now 3.8) without issue, but a fresh install just won’t work without manually creating the wp_config.php.
[It’s not a showstopper for me, since I can manually create the config, then carry on the install normally; however, it seems like a bit of step backward.]
Other factors that may come in to play are that it’s an older server (Windows Server 2003, PHP/MySQL aren’t at the latest versions [but still meet WP requirements]), and PHP is installed as ISAPI rather than FastCGI; however, I’m not sure why/how things changed.
Is anybody else seeing this?
I can’t seem to find anything via Google, forums or WP trac.
Any thoughts on the matter would be warmly received.
]]>Now, my problem: in case while checking some other plugin issues, i deactivated all plugins and reactivate them again. After that the sidebars aren’t shown up again ;-( I look for them and found one in trash, the other one did still remain as active. setting the first one to active again nothing in the end did bring back it all again – there are these sidebars never showing again.
so i redecide all what i had done before with success and cme to one simple question: what exactly is the right php-code to place sidebars in the template? you should wonder, but i’d use this: <?php dynamic_sidebar(); ?>
and that did work. But when i try to reactivate the function of sidebars and tried the offered code “Insert <?php display_ca_sidebar( $args ); ?>
in a template ” given at “installation” it didn’t work too now …!
one thing else: might it be problematic if i do use the plugin “Dynamic Sidebars” too? Well, i did try and deactivate this while trying – no better result. And it had work before.
so i have no more ideas how to get it back working – someone does have one idea please?
many thanks in advance,
cheers!

]]>I have just updated all plugins and wordpress, including nextgen gallery plugin, and I have lost all the previous gallery settings – such as the lightbox effect, image browsing, and the information which was displayed on each image. I have tried to re-establish previous settings in the gallery settings, but when I try to change anything in “further options” I get an error page on my browser. I know I was foolish to update things without first saving current version of my site locally, though I do have an external backup if necessary. Anyone have any idea how to change gallery settings?
Thanks
