]]>Under “Content Types +/-”
“All Archives – Page 1 Only”
“All Archives – Pages 2,3,4…”
The above two tick boxes do nothing (broken). I put the code for the two All Archives (catchall for all categories, tags, search…..) in the wrong place. Was easy to fix, will be in the v1.1.0 update.
When the WPML Language Plugin is active and Posts/Categories have been translated there’s an issue under “Categories +/-“.
In my v1.0.0 testing (localhost testing) I think I setup the language translations of my test Posts in a ‘manual’ way. I’ve since obtained a test site at https://display-widgets-seo-plus.compatibility.wpml.org/ under the WPML Go-Global Program.
Under the WPML Go-Global test site I converted a test Post using the Duplicate option (under the original Posts Edit screen) which duplicates the Post and the Categories the Post is in to the languages duplicated: note after doing this edit the new language Categories names otherwise the language duplicates have the same name as the original Category under “Categories +/-” (makes it looks like you have duplicate Categories).
After ticking Categories (under “Categories +/-“) the ticked Categories aren’t always saved (after clicking the “Save” widget button) and when the “Categories +/-” form is reopened, only Categories from one language is shown. Reloading the “Appearance” > “Widgets” page shows all the Categories again, but the ticked Categories aren’t always saved.
Have a temporary work around for when you want to select Categories from multiple languages (under “Categories +/-“) and they aren’t saving. If for example you have a German Category that when ticked isn’t saving, under “Appearance” > “Widgets” change languages to German (there’s a dropdown language flag selector in the Admin bar). When in the German language, select the German Categories you want to tick and save the widget. Repeat for other languages where a ticked Category won’t save.
The WPML Plugin modifies the default WordPress get_categories()
function so it doesn’t get all Categories: when WPML is active get_categories()
only gets the Categories from the specific language the user is under.
To create the list of ALL Categories under “Categories +/-” I temporarily disabled the WPML modification of the get_categories()
function, I guess something has gone wrong here: works when first loading a widget, but upon saving it seems to revert back to the selected language the user is viewing.
Working on a fix.
Was pretty much ready to release v1.1.0 of the Display Widgets SEO Plus Plugin when I found the above issues, v1.1.0 adds BuddyPress and bbPress plugin support. Current plan is the next update (v1.1.0) will include the new BuddyPress and bbPress support and fix the WPML ticked Categories saving issue.

]]>The new plugin is called Display Widgets SEO Plus v1.0.0 which has been submitted to the WordPress repository and is available for free at: https://stallion-theme.co.uk/display-widgets-seo-plus-plugin/ for manual plugin installations.
The new plugin has everything v2.05 has plus lots of new widget logic conditions (like showing/hiding a widget on the Posts in a specific Category, is an Attachment page…) and fixes the WPML language plugin issues others have been asking support for.
If you are a WPML user the SEO Plus version allows you to set various widget logic conditions, like “is a Tag Archive” AND set specific WPML languages. In the original plugin (v2.05) setting a WPML language overrides the other widget logic options, so in my above example the “is a Tag Archive” option would be ignored, the widget would be shown language section wide only.
I’ve applied for the WPML GoGlobal Program to have the WPML plugin authors check the code out etc… and list it as a WPML compatible plugin.
Big thanks to https://profiles.www.ads-software.com/sswells/ Steph Wells for creating the Display Widgets plugin, made my life so much easier when creating silo link structures.

]]>I recently wanted to translate my website this one into German.
So I hired a freelancer (native German) to translate the pages for me by using WPML Translation.
I don’t know what happened or what he did exactly but the whole german version of the website has totally disappeared. I noticed a mistake in the url of the homepage twice “/de” by example.
I searched online how to solve the matter and at least restaure the version and home page but it only recommended how to translate the pages and so on.
Could you help me to solve this problem, please? Do you have any idea from where this issue could come from? Maybe the parameters of the plugins have mistakes.
I tried to modify the pages directly but it’s not working either. And the languages plugin of WPML disappeared on the pages so I can’t translate anymore.
Thank you in advance if you help me!
