]]>I created a staging site and I couldn’t figure out how to get it to work so I deleted it. Somehow I deleted the content of my orginal site as well (no I did not push it live) Anyway after speaking with Bluehost they were able to help me somewhat but I’m still not able to restore my content. They walked me through double checking that there were no changes to my host obviously, domain, or server.
I expected the backup to be restored successfully on my current setup, which has the same domain, host, and server as the original site.
Instead of a successful restoration, I received an error message stating that the backup cannot be restored due to domain, host, and server restrictions. The error indicates that the backup requires being restored on the exact same domain, host, and server as the original, but it appears to be failing despite my setup being consistent with these requirements.
Browser: Google Chrome
Operating System: Windows 10
Hosting Provider: Bluehost
PHP Version: 8.3.6 (as listed in my WPStaging environment details)
I’m at a loss on how to move forward as I don’t want to purchase a pro version because I don’t need it. Why is it not restoring? Please advise on how I can proceed with restoring the backup under these circumstances. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
]]>I’ve been trying to create this staging site, and unfortunately I cannot seem to log in with the admin details. I’m also not 100% sure which admin details these should be.
I only have access to one of the accounts in the WordPress itself, and no further details.
Thanks in advance!
In the instructions found at Migrate WordPress Staging Site to Production Site ? WP STAGING (wp-staging.com), step 3.1 outlines performing a search/replace of //mysite.com/staging to //mysite.com on the staging tables and set wpstg_is_staging_site to false. Straight forward so far.
I notice in the SQL file I exported, I see there are also references to the staging site folder using the server path of /home/servername/public_html/stagingfolder/…
Should these references be changed to remove the staging folder or am I just overthinking this and getting into too much detail? My gut reaction is to update and remove all references to the staging site/folder. However, if they are not changed, will there be any negative impact when that staging folder is deleted?
Thanks in advance for assistance!
]]>I used WP Staging and it created a whole new subdirectory for my website… apparently it did not create a staging site. Now that staging site is the primary site, but all the webpages are stuck in a subdirectory and I don’t know how to fix it. In WordPress it doesn’t allow me to fix the URL for the webpages. Any advice? Thank you!
]]>does somebody know if it’s possible to buy a trial month or something of WP Staging instead of one year? On the WP Staging website I only see the option to buy the pro version for a year but I will probably only need it for a month.
I am thankful for any tip
]]>Today I have noticed the following problems:
– When I click on some pages within my website I get the following error:
“Fatal error: Unknown: Cannot use output buffering in output buffering display handlers in Unknown on line 0”
It is a white page with just this error message.
– When I try to re-install WordPress I get the following message:
“Another Update is currently in progress.”
– When I try to restore a backup with Updraft Plus, after clicking the restore button I immediately get the message that the restore process got cancelled. Also simply downloading a backup file from within the Updraft admin area is not working.
I don’t know what to do, I am desperate. Could you please help me how I can fix this problem that most probably arose from cancelling the WPSTAGING cloning process?
]]>I tried to send my staging site to the live URL but the live site shows no change.
I used WPstaging plugin (free version) to make the staging site.
30 mins ago, when manually trying to push it live, I did the following:
1. Copied the Plugins, Themes & Uploads folders from staging to live in Cpanel File Manager.
2. Exported the live database as an SQL file via PHPmyadmin
3. Find-and-replaced all instances of “corehealthcollective.com.au/staging” with “corehealthcollective.com.au”
4. Saved the file without changing the name or type
5. Imported it back into PHPmyadmin
The live site shows no changes front end. Back end, it has the staging plugins and theme installed but the theme is not in use. No staging imagery shows up in the media library despite it being visible in live site’s Uploads folder in Cpanel.
I cleared the cache in WordPress backend and my browsers but the live site doesn’t reflect any changes.
What have I missed?
]]>The staging site is referencing the plugin files from the main site. My php code runs (I have done echos to see) only in the wp-admin area, not frontend. The js files are being served from the main site – using plugins_url(). Any solutions I can try?
]]>You cannot migrate back to live site with the free version but this is NOT CLEARLY NOTED. So don’t waste too much time building with the staging site only use it as a testing ground for updates.
**NOTE TO THE DEV – Use these words as your first paragraph on your plugin page:
“This is a great plugin for setting up a staging site for your website but the free version does not easily allow you push your staging site back to live.”
It’s that simple.
I’d give you more stars if you plainly stated this fact – because the plugin works but it wasted my time having to find this out.
