I am a wordpress newbie (apologies in advance for my obvious ignorance) and have a very specific question about how share/view stats work for links that redirect to wordpress blogs:
Last week I posted a blog post at the following url: https://thelittledataset.com/2015/02/19/id-like-to-thank-the-academy-for-making-this-data-available/
Later, a twitter account tweeted it using this url: nyti.ms/1D0Dojj
The above url redirects to my blog post but the end of the url is a little different (see the “?smid=…” section):
https://thelittledataset.com/2015/02/19/id-like-to-thank-the-academy-for-making-this-data-available/?smid=nytimesarts
Retweets and favorites of that tweet have not counted towards my share buttons that are on the bottom of my blog post. Is that because redirection links don’t count for wordpress shares? Is there a way to get the retweets/favorite to count on my share buttons?
Furthermore, are the views that came from this link visible in my WP stats or should I have another tool like google analytics if I want to see that?
Any and all help is appreciated!
Thanks so much!
Alex
as you can see by following the link above, ive got the majority of it done. im just having trouble with the side bars, as well in firefox there seems to be an additional bar at the bottom thats coming up white.
I believe the bottom bar on firfox is caused by the wpstats insert as it doesnt appear on chrome but it does on firefox as well as on mobile devices.
anyways if anyone knows how to color both those bars in it would be most appreciated.
thanks in advance

Your WordPress.com account, leadingfromtheheart is not authorized to view the stats of this blog.
I do not want it to. I want to use the new api key I got from akismet. How do I do this? Anyone know?
]]>My WordPress blog is hosted by a company who developed and maintains my website.
I’m trying to set-up WPStats through my WordPress dashboard, and it is asking for my Blog ID. Does anyone know how I can find this out? Word Press help tells me I have to install something on the server hosting the blog, and I don’t have access to the server.
]]>i am not techie so my blog shoomedia.com was maintained by someone else, but now when i try to manage it, i face a problem :- the person who manage the blog has use the apikey of his own wordpress.com account, but now when i try to use my own apikey, it says already registered with another account, so i contact that person, the problem is solved but the hack is that it shows the blank no graph…. solution.
]]>My WPSTATS plugin is showing totally different results (visits) to the results hown in Google analytics.
The difference is so huge that one of both should be wrong. While Wpstats shows 180 visitor a day, Google analitycs show just 50.
Is it normal?
Which of both softwares are more reliable?
I have days in Google analitycs with 10 visitors however I have received more than 30 contact through the contact form of the Web
]]>I’ve recently installed a new template for my blog and now, the WP Statistic plugin doesnt work anymore.
It doesnt update no more… kinda wired…can you tell me WHY and HOW to resolve the problem?
