It might be a wild moderator, I’m not sure. I remember there was a post a few hours ago in which the poster included a spammer’s URL, the mod edited it out and told him not to post spam URLs, so the poster edited and put the spam URL back, so the mod edited and removed it again and instructed him not to post the URL and not to re-edit the post, so the poster re-edited the post and put the URL back in again, and now it seems like that topic is gone. So, there may be an angry mod on the loose…. I’d be angry…

But I’m sure there’s nothing against you.

Actually it was me the evil poster.

I never saw the post was moderated. I was working on the post and editing it because I had hard time inserting SQL commands that would be correctly displayed (in fact you can’t with this forum, it took me a while to figure that out…).
So basically, after posting my thing, I was looking at it and modifiing it again.
In the mean time, some moderator was retrieving the web URLs (which is good) and I was TOTALLY unaware of it. There is no way for a poster that is editing his post to know that the currently posted document is being moderated/modified…
Then, when I was posting my modified version (working on the display of SQL commands remember ?) I was simply overwriting the modified article and moderator’s comments.
Anyway. Some moderator finally found it easier (?) to simply erase my post, eventhough it was modified and contained NO evil spammer URI.

Bah.. :/ I posted it again. There is no reason for that article to be moderated now. I think. I’ll see if it’s still there tomorrow.

We have an angry moderator on the loose. I might be unknownly responsible, but certainly not guilty.

Angry moderator or not, I’m not all that sure he/she is responsible. After all, we’re talking about in one case a fairly innocuous post in the middle of a thread from 6 weeks ago.

No, I suspect some changes are going on behind the scenes. For example, the edit feature is dying off on posts a lot sooner now. I just wanted to warn the admin(s) about something they may, or may not, have done is whacking posts.

But if it is a moderator: stop it.

Hey Maybe yall are talking about Me. I tried to make my very 1st blog this afternoon and I got this reaally threating letter saying I was spamming and that they were gonna track me down and have my ISP killed. I was stunned and embarrassed and sent this letter to Matt
Dunno who else to send to? Matt
This afternoon I attempted my first blog on WordPress and I just noticed the threatening letter that says I am
guilty of spamming. I had no intention of spamming and
I am extremely upset that I have triggered the notice.
How can I correct the problem. I can guarantee I will never
make the mistake again. How can I delete the blog?
Or has it already been deleted since I can’t login with
the name I used this afternoon.
    Please advise.
    Sincere Apologies

bwhetstone, I have to say that, after looking at your site (and hey, blocking the popup ?? ), it looks like just the kind of site to utilize some of the “darker” methods of internet marketing. I’m not calling you a spammer (having no proof of such), but since every single page of your site begs me for my email address so I can receive your newsletter – and not even a privacy policy! – it makes me extremely wary.

    I’m not whacking posts ??

I am deleting the very obvious spam, but otherwise am noting all cases where I edit posts, apart from those where I simply put some backticks in the correct place.
There is the odd time when I edit a post as someone is re-editing – I look at the time of a post to judge the likelihood of that happening, and sometimes I’m going to get that wrong.

There are some software changes going on, and there may be an occasion where that impacts an existing post. If that is the case, let myself or Matt know and we will see what can be done.

And for the record, although editing posts is okay, I really do not like deleting posts for any other reason than spam… that’s why I’ll usually note in the thread or email any person(s) involved – if I can.

There is definately something odd going on. I’ve noticed posts gone as well. Oddly, it was some of Kafkaesqui’s comments here:

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic.php?id=18627

But I encountered other strange things too. While looking through a PostgreSQL post today, I noticed Root had made some comments there. Out of curiosity, I checked his member stats and it claims that https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic.php?id=8983 was posted 3 days ago. Clearly not the case. And clicking on that link shows only the comments, not Root’s post everyone is commenting on (I’ve seen that a few other places too).

Sounds like theres some problems with the upgrades, not a moderator.

And speaking of things I don’t like about the current state of the forums :), it was great when you could select page numbers to long posts. Now you can only increment to Next and Previous. I assume this will come back when all the upgrades are sorted out?

EDIT: And being able to sort support forum posts chronologically by creation or last comment was nice too.

    Thanks. ??

Ah – as for Root’s (or anyone’s) member profile, it lists when the last comment was posted, not when the thread was started. Sorry.

Hm… not sure which way is better. I suppose the time-last-commented-upon is nice since it makes it easy for authors to track their posts.

Thanks for bringing to my attention the bothersome popup on my site which is brand new and yours is the first feedback I’ve gotten.
I’ll fix that immediately. I’m really a novice at this and your comment about “darker” side and with no privacy policy gave me alot to work on which I will do immediately.

Also, LisaS’s entire explanation of how to change the name of wp-comments-post.php is gone from her own topic.

Podz, your topic that contained your gigantic list of every WP theme is also gone. I’ll email you what I have of the source.

I’ve posted a re-creation for a december Google cache here:
