it does not appear in descending order of price

Though you mentioned that the website is set in ascending order of price, it doesn’t seem so. It is not following any sorting order.

Can you please temporarily switch your theme to Storefront and disable all plugins except for WooCommerce to see if the issue persists?

You can test this out on a staging site using a plugin like WP Staging, without affecting the appearance of the front end.
