When I enter a search phrase and there’s nothing to be found the user will be routed to the wordpress default search form. This is unwished, as I want the search to work on a specific category. What can I do.

I hope you are well today and thanks for posting here.

Could you please share the page URL from your site where it is displaying so I can troubleshoot it?

    Best regards,

    Here it is https://r-mediabase.eu/illustrationsfotografie/

The phrase ukraine is not in any posts assigned to the category illustrationsfotografie. Entering the search phrase ukraine into the first search field routes to https://r-mediabase.eu/?s=ukraine&id=87402&post_type=post where a new search field is presented to the user. if the user now is repeating the search phrase again, positive results would be found.

    It’s confusing.

This is because the search form displayed on the search results page is a default search form that you should configure from the below path.

Admin Area -> Ivory Search -> Search Forms -> Default Search Form -> Edit Search Form

Can I disable this default search form?

Do you want to hide the search form on the search results page?

Best Option would be customize text and options. Something like

sorry, no posts matching your search profile AND please go back (<a href …xyz)

The search results page is displayed by the search.php or search.html file of the generatepress theme that you are using on your site so the plugin doesn’t control how the pages and their text will be displayed on the search results page but your site theme controls it.

You can change this developing custom code in the search.php file of your child theme by contacting the theme author or consider hiring a developer to develop it for you. You can hire a developer from any freelance site or WordPress agency.

You can also consider hiring me to develop it for you using the form https://ivorysearch.com/custom-work/
