    why wouldn’t I ask wordpress community for support?

    You are using a non-WPORG theme, you need to seek support from the theme’s developers – paid or otherwise. We only support themes downloaded from www.ads-software.com here.

    it was actually a plug-in related issue that has nothing to do with the theme. this was a coding issue as well dealing with how WP displays truncated posts with plugins in front of the content thus making this topic WP related.
