    I followed the instructions. 000webhost.com creates a subfolder public_html/<subdomain> for the subdomain, so when you access the subdomain you get the “Index of /”, empty folder, which is reasonable.

    So… What now?

    You have to change the location of the subdomain from public_html/<subdomain> to public_html

    Something I can’t due since free 000webhost.com doesn’t support that. Oh well, thanks, good to know for future

    I am having a similar problem with a different provider.

    Do I need to create a subdomain in the control panel before I create the site in WordPress?

    levonk: No, you don’t have to make the subdomain first.
