    Hello,

I believe an issue has arisen in V 1.5.1. After the update my Google Ads account no longer has any conversions pushed through to it from GA4.

Upon looking into the data on my GA4 dashboard I can see all of the purchases are being recorded, however it appears the “event medium” is now not being correctly recorded as “cpc” medium for my customers clicking on a Google Ad and is instead being labeled as “referral”.

This means the data is not being pulled through to Google Ads as it’s not recognised as a sale coming from one of their links.

Could this explain the multiple reports I’m seeing in the support thread of people not seeing conversions?

Just installing the previous version 1.5.0 to test and see if conversions data returns which would confirm if the issue is with 1.5.1

    Will confirm later today

    Hi @nanasflowers

Option to use Global Site Tag and the gtag.js library for Universal Analytics or Google Analytics 4 was added in 1.5.0 and 1.5.1 just had minor tweaks for WooCommerce 5.0 compatibility.

Let us know what you find.

Okay I think I’ve found what is likely causing it.

Out of curiosity I went onto my cpanel, then files and to: public_html/wp-content/plugins/woocommerce-google-analytics-integration

It simply says “Data error.” and has none of the plugin files are listed as they should be which is most strange. So I tried fully removing the folder thereby removing the plugin entirely, I went onto my wordpress plugins page and re-uploaded a fresh copy of the plugin from the 1.5.0 ZIP file downloaded from the previous versions here: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/woocommerce-google-analytics-integration/advanced/

However, under public_html/wp-content/plugins/woocommerce-google-analytics-integration it still shows “Data error.”

I’ve never come across this type of error before and have absolutely no idea what’s caused it however my conversion data changed the day I did the 1.5.1 update.

Maybe this is the same issue others are having?

I’m at a loss now. Just going to install a different GA4 tracking plugin as I can’t find anything else left to try with this one which is a shame as I’ve been using it for years.

Switched back to UA and tracking instanly works again, there has to be something wrong with the GA4 implementation…

    Hi @nanasflowers,

The GA4 system that Google has recently released is still fairly new and may not contain all the features of the more established UA- tracking method from Google. It’s possible this article below may help you with understanding GA4 from Google with regards to e-commerce sites.

If the UA- method is working for you I’d keep using that method for the time being until GA4 matures a little more.
