1 company, multiple domains, SEO
-
I have read a lot on the forum about multiple domains and sites and setups but I could not find what I think is a different problem I am trying to solve. Or at least I did not understand how it applies to us directly. Here is the issue. We want to have a good SEO “score”.
Our main domain is:
https://www.ourdomain.com and it is in English and we have 1 WP installation. We also own a few local domains like:
https://www.ourdomain.ltd.uk
https://www.ourdomain.de
https://www.ourdomain.nl
https://www.ourdomain.es
etcThe problem we are facing in terms of SEO is duplicate content. At the moment we are pointing all these domains to the .com.
So the .ltd.uk, .de, etc all point to the English .com.What is a good way to solve this problem taking into account that we do not have all languages available today. In other words, we have today English and Spanish content, but not yet German and Dutch content.
Short term what should we do? I was thinking of the following:
Point ourdomain.ltd.uk to ourdomain.com/uk_site_page – In other words make one unique WP page for the UK office and then go from there to the standard English content.
Point ourdomain.es to ourdomain.com/es/ – In other words to the Spanish language content
Point ourdomain.de and ourdomain.nl to respectively our domain.com/de_site_page and /nl_site_page both in English.Does this make SEO sense? Or is this wrong as well.
Long term?
Create all pages in the local language and point all local domains to our domain.com/en and /de and /nl, etcHow do you handle local domains for English speaking countries?
.com, .uk, .au, etc can all point to the same English content, but this would be duplicate from an SEO point of view or not?
