• I thought this would be great seeing the 5 star rating. Too bad it won’t work for any of my websites with the 1 GB limit on backups. Almost all modern websites are over 1 GB making this plugin pretty useless without shelling out extra money. I understand that this takes a lot of time to develop and maintain but that doesn’t really excuse releasing crippleware. I’d recommend supporting a developer that doesn’t limit CORE functionality in order for you to pay. Having features like automatic backups or dev support behind paywalls is one thing, having the literal title of the plugin behind a paywall is a whole other beast. It would be 1 star but to their credit they are somewhat upfront about it.

Thank you for your feedback, please allow us to state our point of view.

Almost all modern websites are over 1 GB

Actually there are many which are smaller (that’s why so many use the free plugin and don’t upgrade, sob).

The rationale of making it premium from a certain size is that the larger the size, the more issues pop up typically. It’s also fair – you have a small site (which usually doesn’t cause many issues) you can use the free one, your site is big and then you can consider getting the (very affordable) premium version.

That said, we will think about increasing the limit to 2 GB.

I understand that this takes a lot of time to develop and maintain

It does! ?? Thank you for acknowledging that.

    releasing crippleware

It’s certainly not crippleware ?? With this logic any plugin which doesn’t fit the specific user case could be called crippleware.

Having features like automatic backups or dev support behind paywalls is one thing

Ok, so you would be fine with automatic backups or developer support behind paywall? We decided to offer both for free (please have a look at the support forum where we aim to tackle any issue).

If we had made support premium, then there would be many cases where the issues are on the user side, e.g. servers (i.e. not a fault of our plugin), and then they think we released a buggy plugin to make them upgrade.

to their credit they are somewhat upfront about it.

    Thanks for acknowledging that too!

@truesdalester We considered your feedback, and as a result, we doubled the limit to 2 GB in the free version. Would be great if you could give our plugin another chance. Thank you!
