    Hi,

Is it possible to have 1 WP site, with 2 themes, but with slightly different content? I have a non-responsive WP website which I’d like to make a mobile version of, but I’d still like to be able to update both using the same WP installation if possible.

The mobile version will be a truncated version of the non-mobile site, with the same information but fewer pages and graphics. It will be mostly text, unlike the non-mobile version which is graphics-heavy.

When users visits the site, they will automatically be directed to the version appropriate to the device that they’re viewing it with. Is this at all possible with just 1 WP installation?

Many thanks in advance for any insight.

You’d be better off using a mobile plugin.

Thanks for the quick response Mika. To clarify, will the mobile plugin enable me to have 2 slightly different themes, with slightly different content? The text on the mobile version will be exactly the same as the non-mobile, but I just want to unpublish certain posts and pages from the mobile version using the same WP 3.4.2 installation. Is this at all possible? Thanks again for your help.

    Themes, yes. Content, no.

Why do you want the content to be different? (realistically, you’d hurt your SEO by making a second site with 90% the same content, so you should avoid that)

Thanks again Mika. Looks like 2 separate WP installations will be the answer then, one for the regular website and another for the mobile version. Appreciate the help.
