System requirements change between 2.0.6 and 2.1

  • I just wasted a lot of time. I’ve looked and couldn’t find anything about the change in system requirements between 2.0.6 and 2.1. (It barfed on my version of MySQL.)

    I apologize if I missed it, but some emphasis regarding this change would have been nice.

  • You are absolutely right!

    So, here goes for everybody: Before upgrading check whether your server has the requirements for the new 2.1 version:

    – PHP version 4.2 or greater
    – MySQL version 4.0 or greater

    My WP Blog Server was MacOSX 10.4.8. The PHP version came with Apple originally was 4.1.13a.

    I upgraded the WP to 2.1, it worked but Rich Text Editor (WYSIWYG Editor) was not functioned under FireFox 2.01 for OSX.

    So I upgrade my PHP version to latest version 5.2 for MacOSX (Apache 1.33), the Rich Text Editor(WYSIWYG Editor) and the new image uploader came back as WP 2.07.

    My blog server is Bluehost.com and they have the latest versions of php and everything, but still the Tabbed Editor does not work. Could it be something else that is the problem? I am going to need to downgrade to 2.0.7 (if I can find it) because I can’t write posts with no ability to resize images, and do links except manually.

    Make sure you delete your browser’s cache before reloading the rich text editor. That might solve some rte issues when you upgraded from 2.0x to 2.1

    I’m getting a message when trying to upload images to my Blog at https://www.pathickeytravels.com. I have a new Macbook and am using the Mac OSX. any help would be appreciated…FYI I’m extremely tech challenged -so if you could keep it as simple as possible.

    The message is:

    Unable to create directory U:\users\t\trav325\public_html\wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2007/02. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

    i had the same problem. have you made an uploads folder in ftp? go to wordpress/wp-content and if you do not see an uploads folder then make one. it should look like this wordpress/wp-content/uploads and the make sure it is chmod 777. that should do it.

    AdBlock in Firefox will prevent the Rich Text Editor(WYSIWYG Editor) from displaying properly – make sure to disable this on your WordPress site.
