• I don’t know if this is even possible but here goes.

I would like to be able to write specific posts for specific pages that I have created. But I know I can’t do that. So I installed the Categrory Visibility plugin from https://ryowebsite.com/?p=46.

Say I created a post called “My Favorite Pasta” and placed it in a category called “Food”. I do not want this post to show in the main/homepage. So I make the “Food” category invisible from the front page using the plugin.

That all works great. But the problem I am running into is when I link to “My Favorite Pasta” or click on the permalink I am taken to the Comments section.

I want to see the “My Favorite Pasta” post along with every other post I have placed in the “Food” category when I click on the “My Favorite Pasta” permalink instead of being taken to the comments template.

    Is this possible?

    Hope it makes sense. Thanks.

    Anyone?

Yeah, good question, I hope someone says this is easy or not.

You simply don’t understand the basic WP terminology, sorry.

When you click on a post title (aka “permalink”) > it takes you to the permanent link of that single post; WP calls it ‘single post view’. That’s how it is supposed to work!

You need to click the category name Food – in order to see all posts in that category: it is called category archives.

These are two very different things, I mean the single post view and the category archive view (listing) – they have different functions and they do what they are supposed to do.

What you are asking for (clicking on a single post title and to get a category listing) seems to be on the nonsense side… and confusing for any visitor that is familiar with how blogs work.

Wow, you can be really rude sometimes Moshu.

Why is that nonsense? Everyone has their own reasons for wanting WP to work how they want it to work.

Just because people aren’t on your level doesn’t mean that it’s okay for you to be completely rude and belittle people when you respond to their questions (as ridiculous or stupid as you may think they are).

Sure you’re probably a moderator for good reasons and have a wealth of knowledge about WP. But your comments sometimes really make people feel bad about themselves and I always thought WordPress was better than that.

Get over yourself and stop making people feel so bad when they ask questions that aren’t up to your level. This is suppose to be forum where people can ask anything and not be made to feel bad.

This will probably be delete and that’s fine. I hope you read it though. And if making a complaint here doesn’t work, maybe contacting the owner of this forum will.

lol, its not going to be deleted, they delete very little on here.

    1. Moshu’s primary language isnt English.
    2. He wasnt being rude.
    3. He doesnt know PHP to save his life, and he happily admits this
    4. He doesnt need to “get over himself” — there was nothing in his reply that was self-inflating.
    5. Lastly, this actually isnt a forum intended to be a place where people can ask anything.. IF it were it would be google.

and honestly, what you are asking is kind of nonsensical.

To want users to click on a singular post and be directed to a categorical view does fly in the face of what a categorical-based blog is supposed to do.

    In other words, he’s right.

    Good luck setting that up.

LOL. This question is never going to get answered again at this point.

    1. Moshu’s primary language isnt English. – So?
    2. He wasnt being rude. Definitely comes across that way. And I am not the only one that feels that way… so..
    3. He doesnt know PHP to save his life, and he happily admits this. – Um, your point?
    4. He doesnt need to “get over himself” — there was nothing in his reply that was self-inflating. — Didn’t ask for your opinion. :o)
    5. Lastly, this actually isnt a forum intended to be a place where people can ask anything.. IF it were it would be google. — I was obviously about WP. Sorry if you didn’t get that.

and honestly, what you are asking is kind of nonsensical.

that may be true to you and whoever else. i’d still like to do it though.

To want users to click on a singular post and be directed to a categorical view does fly in the face of what a categorical-based blog is supposed to do.

Well, I wouldn’t need to do that if I could set up pages that could do this. And obviously a lot of other people want to do it as well.

    In other words, he’s right.

    Good luck setting that up.

    yeah, thanks. (but not really).

that you are not alone doesnt make you right.

And frankly, that you didnt ask my opinion doesnt mean jack– you posted to a public forum so you essentially asked for anyone’s opinion, including mine.

Go work on your code, friend, and stop trying to troll. You’ve gotten the most intelligent answer possible — that it wasnt what you wanted to hear makes no difference.

as ever: Category_Templates would be a wonderful thing to study.

that you are not alone doesnt make you right. It doesn’t?

And frankly, that you didnt ask my opinion doesnt mean jack– you posted to a public forum so you essentially asked for anyone’s opinion, including mine. – Too bad your opinion was completely worthless. :o)

Go work on your code, friend, and stop trying to troll. Umm, what?. Maybe you should work on your people skills, friend.)

You’ve gotten the most intelligent answer possible (unfortunately, it wasn’t from you)

that it wasnt what you wanted to hear makes no difference. — I see, you’re psychic. Well, since you’re obviously talented at so many things asides from WordPress… I’ll let you have the last word.

    Make it count, friend. :o)

Thanks Handy. LOL. Looks like that’s where I’ll be heading. :~)
