• I just successfully upgraded to the Jan 13th build. Well WP works, but I get an error after I try to restore my database through phpMyAdmin:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: __() in /home/crewtcom/public_html/gotbill/wp-admin/admin-functions.php on line 857

If I dump the tables, go to wp-admin/install.php and reload the default db’s it works again…

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks
    Bill

  • I think no one has the answer to this question yet. I am having the same problem….

What do you mean restore the tables through phpMyAdmin? Why would you get a WP error if you’re in phpMyAdmin? If you’re just upgrading, why not run upgrade.php?

At first when I tried to run upgrade.php (before I dumped the tables) I received the same error I did after trying to restore the database. (Dumping the DBs)

I’d figured I would start from scratch. I guess I was wrong?

Just to clarify this was my upgrade path:

    DL’ed 1/13 Build.
    Backed Up index.php, wp-layout.css, & wp-comments.php
    Deleted containing folder off server
    Tar’d nightly build (cpanel)
Went to upgrade.php in browser: Error
    -scratched head-
    Repeated steps above twice
    3rd attempt: dumped tables
    Restored DB from backup
Went to upgrade.php in browser: Error
    Dumped tables again
    Went to install.php in browser
Followed instructions – Success (no past entries though)
    Restored DB from backup
Went to site in browser: Error…

Maybe I’m retared or had a long day at work…

When I run upgrade.php I get the same error message..

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: __() in /home/circle61/public_html/exposure/wp-admin/admin-functions.php on line 857

    From 1.2 to 1.5….

I know the feeling…. I followed the same path… I would still like to add some of the old posts…

What you created the backup and attempted to restore, did you follow these instructions?

Basically I after unsuccessfully upgrading from 1.2 to 1.5. I attempted the back up and restore into myql which was ok however it created new tables as the table names on some are different and didn’t work..
