• Hi all (especially the podz-guru if you’re out there…)
Apologies if this is covered – a search reveals similar things out there but I can’t seem to match my particular problem.

    • Domain: pootpootpoot (add ‘www’ & ‘com’ as appropriate)
    • Using Plesk 7 for windows to manage the domain
    • Previous install of 1.2.2 worked fine at pootpootpoot.com/blog/

Following Podz’ instructions to upgrade to 1.5, the following occurs:

    • pootpootpoot.com/blog/ no longer loads the index, however pootpootpoot.com/blog/index.php loads the page correctly.
    • Clicking on an article’s ‘comments’ link generates a 404, but adding ‘index.php’ to the correct place in the URL makes the page load correctly.
    • In the same vein, Categories *do* work (i.e. the linked URL contains ‘index.php’ and loads correctly) but archives do not.
    • WP does not have permission to modify files from the Admin interface (may be a RTFM issue? can’t seem to CHMOD)
    • RSS also broken (wp-rss2.php not found)

Have tried a fresh install instead of an upgrade (using the old article database) but the same problem arose.

Any help will be hugely appreciated. Otherwise a download link for WP 1.2.2 would be the next best thing (*sigh*)

  • did you have a permalink structure? you might need to supplement your .htaccess with new information generated by 1.5

also, use an ftp program and check out your blog directory. Make sure there are no other index files.

    Thanks for your reply.
There was/is no permalink structure yet (and no .htaccess file – server is IIS).
The inly index files I am aware of are at:

    • /blog/index.php
    • /blog/wp-content/themes/default/index.php

(using default theme until I can get the site working, of course)

I have the same problem, same situation and would like an answer. The only difference is that my wordpress is a completely fresh install of 1.5 on a completely new database.

Anybody? Whats does the htaccess file for your installations say?

can you access your admin area??

If you can, go to the themes section. What is the default theme set as??

change it to the default theme.

    hi mcangeli

Yes I found problems with using a custom theme so reverted back to the default theme (1.5 default, based on Kubrik). I can access the admin area fine. however because the domain is hosted on a Windows server there seems to be no easy way to set permissions on files (CHMOD). Attempting to set permissions from an FTP program like FileZilla or Transmit does not stick. As a result, I cannot write to the PHP files from WordPress.

lhomme, is your site on an Microsoft IIS server, or Apache?

    I believe I’m on a Windows server.

Also, I have no problems changing skins or going to the admin panel. The problem lies in the index.php: anything that should reference the index.php in the URL doesn’t in that its chopped off (blah/?post=1) instead of (blah/index.php?post=1) and that index.php as the only index file will not load when going to (blah.com/wordpressinstallfolder/)

    Thanks.

According to another post somewhere on these forums, you have to change the Permalinks to include the index.php. Unfortunately, I believe that also creates a second problem with category and date filters.
