    Hi,

Why is it that when I access my admin panel after upgrading, the version number at the bottom is still 2.2?

I already upgraded my installation to 2.2.1. I uploaded everything except the wp-content and wp-includes folders as well as the wp-config.php file.

When I ran /wp-admin/upgrade.php, only a “no need to upgrade, continue” message showed up.

I already cleared my browser cache.

I really don’t mind the version number. What matters is that the files are updated. The date from my FTP client shows that I have changed the files (6-22-07). Will this be enough to verify that I have already upgraded to 2.2.1?

  • the includes folder is pretty important, since over half the changed files are found in that folder.

Oh I see. Okay, I’ll try to overwrite my includes folder since I’m not using any language files anyway.

    Thanks for you suggestion MarkMichon.

    I’ll keep you posted.

I just wanted to say thanks, MarkMichon. It worked!

Now I can proceed with the upgrade on my actual blog.

I really appreciate the help pal.

I’ve been running 2.2 since the last update fine, but when I’ve come to update to 2.2.1, I’m having a similar problem to a few others. The files were updated, but the installation itself still reads 2.2 after logging into the Dashboard.

I’ve completely deleted the old includes folder and uploaded the new one, cleared my cache and even checked the wp-includes/version.php file contents – the version on my computer says 2.2.1 and after uploading this copy to my server, this file also reads 2.2.1 and yet for some reason when I try and run upgrade.php, I’m told I don’t need to update.

At this point I’ve ripped out every single file apart from htaccess and my config file and uploaded the entire content of the 2.2.1 release.

Anyone have any other suggestions for why this might be an issue? At this point if I see ‘Your WordPress database is already up-to-date!’ one more time, I may just crack! ??

All that message means is that there are no database changes between 2.2 and 2.2.1. If it says 2.2.1, then that’s what you’re running.

what do you see in the source of your wordpress pages? what do you see in the source of your feeds?

Have you cleared your browser’s cache?

    Where is this WordPress install?
