• Hi

I am running WordPress 2.2 in my lan environment. I am running wamp5.

When I try to access my blog from any other comp in my network I am getting a page not found error. I referred to this site and realised I need to make the change in the options tab. The fields blog address and wordpress address use the IP and not the localhost. I have even restarted the wamp server once.

The blog is still not accessible from anywhere. Hmmm am I missing something ?

  • Have you turned off the windows firewall on the machine your running wordpress on, or atleast allowed http traffic in.

better still you havent indicated whether or not a simple html file is web accessible given the same circumstances.

Its important to determine whether or not this is wordpress issue or networking issue, and doing that will give you the answer

    ChandrasekaranKrishnan,

I’m also having similar circumstances. I want to install WordPress locally and access it from other machines on the same network. I have tested the network and it’s working perfectly (a simple html file is accessible on all machines in the same network).

The problem starts when I want to access my WordPress from different machines. The URL “localhost/wordress” or “talrasha/wordpress” works fine on the machine where WordPress is installed. But when I try to access it from a different machine with the URL “talrasha/wordpress”, it doesn’t work. If I enter just the URL “talrasha”, it then displays the default XAMPP page which indicates that there is nothing wrong with my network.

I’ve been trying to solve this problem since 1 month. I’m done today.
Just make the wordpress URL the local machine ip adress. It’s localhost default. But make it the ip adress.
