• This only happens in Firefox. It is asking me to login almost all the time. I can’t edit or publish a post I get the login in window hence nothing is saved. When I go to upload a picture I get the login window. When I am logged in instead of site admin option I have to login in again.

It must be a cache thing or something with Firefox? Do I clear everything? Passwords, etc. Or is this something else as it does not happen in Safari at the moment. I have already cleared the cache and quit/restarted Firefox.

  • Sounds like you have Firefox blocking cookies.

In firefox, check Tools -> Options and the Privacy tab. Your cookie settings are there — is the initial box checked to accept them?

    hello handy,

not in tools but in prefs there is a privacy tab and right now the cookies box is checked with the drop menu “till they expire” selected.

all the “history” boxes are checked.

    the “private data” are not.

I have this exact problem even after attempting all suggested solutions. Firefox is definitely accepting cookies – I can log in to wordpress.com and many other sites.

I’m also having this issue with Firefox and WP 2.3.3

I cannot login to my site with this browser either.

    IE tho is perfectly fine.

All cookies are set to accept, warning messages are all turned on, still rolling a seven here.

I’m noticing a redirect in the url as well.

As a matter of fact, since the previous automatic Firefox upgrade, I have this very issue with ANY website that requires cookies. I used to have no problems with FF even if I set it only to ‘session cookies only’, but now I can work on no login-website with FF even if I set cookies to always accept an never delete. I have the idea that FF changed something in the handling of cookies and not all websites ‘understand’ it or something.

    WP: 2.3.3

I’m not sure if this is a Firefox update problem, or a cookies problem, I think neither is right. If you’re able to login to post on this forum, then you should be able to login to your wordpress. I don’t think this is a browser problem, not that it’s a wordpress problem, but somewhere between the two, something isn’t happy.

I’ve tested login with IE and Safari, both work fine.

Firefox however has no interest in allowing me to login to my site what-so-evah.

As of now, I still cannot login to my site with Firefox, and am contemplating a long eternity using Internet Explorer, a very unpleasant fate indeed.

I would be most grateful for suggestions.

my problem is intermittent now. i can mostly get in ( 90% ) and when i can’t i go to safari for a short period of time.

IE is ONLY used when i am building something to test it. ??

when i do have problems i clear the cache, cookies, etc. but no clear direction or insight to give anyone. i also now have three user names to get in, each with a different role and logging out of one and then into another works.

ronchicago: This seems to be the topic of the hour, Firefox and WordPress. As someone else has mentioned a couple of times in the last few minutes, it may be related to some security features enabled by your host.

I also cannot login to WP using Firefox, and it seems others are having Firefox issues as well. As I’ve suggested a couple of times, try using Opera until future releases of WP include a workaround to what seems to be a Firefox problem.

Must be some weird cookie issue with Firefox. My WordPress was working fine until I upgraded to 2.5.1 but then I started having this problem.

It seems to work fine if I use:
    https://mywebsite.com/wp-login

    as opposed to:
    https://www.mywebsite.com/wp-login

    Strange but it works.
