1.5.2 – ecto 2.3.7 – Subscribe2 2.1.5 plugin

  • A fix in WP 1.5.2 reports publish_post plugin hooks are triggered when posting from an XML-RPC app, like ecto.

    This was a change I’d been waiting for to have the plugin auto email subscribers when posting from ecto.

    Anyone using ecto + Subscribe2 and having this work?
    The plugin developer (thanks Skippy) says it should, but he has not tested ecto.

    In my tests, no email is sent still when posting from ecto. The time settings show the posts published at the correct time. Subscribe2 works fine when posting from within WP.

  • I don’t use Ecto, but I have tried posting by email and from Flickr. I’ve got the most recent release of Subscribe2, but I don’t get emails. As you’ve found, it works as expected when posting from WP.

    Has anyone found a solution to this problem? I also use Ecto and would like emails sent out from Ecto posts, as they are when I use the web admin interface. Thanks.

    same post here. Spoke with Skippy today over email, and he said he doesn’t have Ecto to test with. I use both Ecto on OS X and w.bloggar on Windows and neither seem to publish the email. I’ve got my UTC offset setup correctly. I’ve even tried to remove my UTC offset altogether, and still the only way to get emails with Subscribe2 and/or Email Notification Plugin is through the WP interface.

    This was supposed to be fixed, according to this bugtraq entry.

    If you’re still interested, contact Skippy again and let him know that Ecto is available for both Windows and Mac with a 21 day free trial. IOW, it can easily be used for testing and then deleted. He may not be aware of this, as the free trial period is only apparent once you launch the program.

    I believe this is on WordPress (xmlrpc.php) rather than the plugin.

    Echozone, I would suggest that you contact the Ecto Support forums about this. There apparently are a few plugins which (somehow) cause conflicts with XML-RPC programs, like Ecto. As far as I know, all of the XMLRPC bugs have been fixed in WP and Ecto should work fine with a virgin installation of WordPress, so this probably a plugin issue.
