Hello, hello! I’ve been using The Events Calendar for quite some time. I currently use version 1.6.5 on this site here: https://www.rstuartandco.com/category/events/

When you first came out with 2.0, there were a bunch of warnings regarding upgrading and I didn’t have the time to deal with it.

I’d like to get things up to date now.

I have 2.0.1 installed but NOT active. And, again, I have 1.6.5 installed and active.

Is there anything that I should do before simply deactivating 1.6.5 and activating 2.0.1? Of course, I’ll back up the DB before I do anything, just in case, but I’d really rather not see the WP white screen of death as that always gives me the willies and I just hate the willies.

I also saw in your FAQs that there is a way to “import” the entries from 1.6.5 to the new version so I won’t have to re-enter everything.

Thanks so much for any advice, help, and warnings you can offer. All the best and Merry whatever you celebrate!

  • Hi there lunabean. Thanks for the note here, and apologies for the delay on our end…we generally shut down in terms of forum support around the holidays, and as I’ve been out on vacation until this week, yours is one of the first threads I wanted to respond to.

Have you already made the jump to 2.0, or were you waiting for a follow-up here? If so, it sounds like you’ve followed the steps properly so far. The import prompt should appear once you activate 2.0.1 (or whatever 2.0.x version you’re jumping to). Once you click the on-screen prompt, the migration should occur automatically.

Let me know where in the process you are and I can certainly attempt to guide you in whatever capacity is possible.
