• Hi guys!

Can someone help me with this?

    SITUATION:
    wordpress on windows plesk

    PROBLEM:
when uploading an image, I get the following error:
“Unable to create directory ..\httpdocs\wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2008/04. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”

    ACTION TAKEN:
Added write permission for user IUSR_pleskuser to the folder uploads.

    QUESTION:
Although it seems to work now, I am concerned this might be a security issue. I find a lot of information on Linux/apache installations, but I would like to know how to secure our wordpress on windows/plesk/IIS…

    Thanks for helping me out!

  • I don’t use plesk, but I run WordPress on my work laptop with Wamp5 server. Why does this seem like a security risk to you? You have to have write permissions to your uploads folder.. IIS or any server. Just a bit confused..

I am looking at the same issue.

It is a security concern because currently IIS does not have write permissions to that folder-tree. WP is able to save my posts into this area, so I’m not clear why I need to open my server up further for WP to save the images and other media files.
