    site: https://www.kiskipby.org

    location of wordpress install: https://www.kiskipby.org/kiskiblog/index.php

    guest login: guest
    passord: guest
(if anyone would like to take a look)

After a number of failed attempts (I host with intermedia, which turned out to need the ip address for the mysql database, rather than ‘local host’, and had difficulties getting index.php to be the default page)–I seem to have installed WordPress successfully as a subsite of my main website, which is on a windows server, which has php and mysql installed.

But none of the themes are working, and any attempt to execute an action on the wordpress blog brings up the mainpage of the main webpage for the kiskipby.org domain.

The kiskipby.org site is maintained by Frontpage (about which I have no choice), but if I understand correctly, this should not affect the operation of the wordpress blog, which was ftp’ed in correctly.

Any advice would be deeply appreciated. I sent a note to the “free install” people to see if they’d be willing to help out, but I’m not sure if I fit the specs, since this is for a nonprofit district office for a group of churches.

Thanks so much for any assistance,
    Erin

Wow! as an update, I just received notice that an installer from install4free did accept this ticket–and within minutes/hours, rather than days.

    I’ll keep you all posted.

    Wow again!!!
Samuel, an installer with install4free, repaired the install within minutes, with this response, if it helps anyone else. I simply cannot express my gratitude after hours of frustration.

    Hi,
I simply repaired the install. Evidently the installer hung on step 2 and messed up your url values in the database.
    Good luck,
    Samuel

I can’t find where to mark this as resolved.

    Hi,

To make this a bit more clear – when the installer hangs or burps or whatever it does at times, it will leave you with a url similar to
    https://www.yourdomain.com?step=2
in the database and of course this wreaks havoc with the blog.
To fix this if you can log in (doubtful):
admin – settings – change both url values to correct ones and save.
To fix this when you can’t log in, follow the instructions here:
