• I have entered in the wp-config file my MySQL database info and password

I have uploaded everything to my server not in root, but in subdomain support.thelevel2.com

I go to support.thelevel2.com/wp-admin/install.php and this is what I get..

Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress.

I go over all instructions again and find this: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Installing_WordPress#Using_phpMyAdmin

Click the Home icon in the upper left to return to the main page, then click Privileges. If a user relating to WordPress does not already exist in the list of users, create one:

    1. Click Add a new User.
    2. Chose a username for WordPress (‘wordpress’ is good) and enter it in the User name field. (Be sure Use text field: is selected from the dropdown.)
    3. Choose a difficult-to-guess password (ideally containing a combination of upper- and lower-case letters, numbers, and symbols), and enter it in the Password field. (Be sure Use text field: is selected from the dropdown.) Re-enter the password in the Re-type field.
    4. Write down the username and password you chose.
    5. Leave all options under Global privileges at their defaults.
    6. Click Go.

This is what I see though…

    Am I missing something?
How are these PHPMyAdmin instructions relevant to what I am seeing, I see no options for “privileges”

    Please help, thank you!

  • No you’re not necessarily missing anything. If yours is a shared hosting service then it’s quite common for your mysql users to be generated by your host with full permissions and then you can’t change them.

Your problem would seem to be this –

Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress.

Which is nothing to do with mysql permissions, it’s to do with PHP being configured to link in to mysql. Possibly it’s down the the config on your subdomain. Check with your provider.
