2.4 Beta & Render Blocking

    Hello Frank,

    I thought I’d give 2.4 beta a shot and installed this morning. Unfortunately, my page speed testing using GT, insights, pingdom & wepagetest all dropped in score. I also notice that I have render blocking in the following;

    https://www.mysite.com/wp-includes/css/dashicons.min.css
    https://www.mysite.com/…customizer-global-15232752011273.min.css

    I think my settings in 2.4 are the same as with the released version but I didn’t have render blocking there.

    Settings are;
    Optimize HTML Code
    JS Optimize
    Aggregate
    Aggregate inline
    Exclude seal.js, js/jquery/jquery.js
    CSS optimize
    Aggregate
    Aggregate inline
    Inline all
    Exclude css wp-content/cache/, wp-content/uploads/, admin-bar.min.css, dashicons.min.css
    Save aggregated
    Remove emojis
    Combine & load async

    Any ideas why this would be different than production plugin? AFAIK, the settings are the same although it did not inherit from previous version. Thanks.

    Exclude css wp-content/cache/, wp-content/uploads/, admin-bar.min.css, dashicons.min.css

    dashicons has “always” been excluded, but wp-content/cache and wp-content/uploads are new exclusions (default as of AO 2.3.3) and have been added because CSS stored there might bust AO’s cache. you can obviously remove the exclusions you don’t want ??

    OK. So I removed wp-content/cache/, wp-content/uploads/, admin-bar.min.css, from exclusions and now pretty much back to normal. Insights still not 100% but I do believe that’s mostly for above the fold and I will be emailing you soon about Critical CSS Pro Configuration. Should I wait to email until my cdn is set up? Cheers.
