• Hi,

I recently started using your plugin, but unfortunately I run into an issue. I want to generate the variable product SKU using the Attribute slug name which are shoe sizes in our case, but unfortunately the plugin adds -2 to all SKU’s. I am not sure where this is coming from since the attributes do not have this in the name or slug.

Because of the added -2 in the SKU Woocommerce does not seem to recognize the variable product and does not manage the stock properly. For context we have a shoe shop and the sizes are the variable products. To take https://www.leukelaarsjes.com/product/pikolinos-leren-sandalet-bruin/ as an example I have switched the plugin to generate variable sku’s to: never. I changed the SKU from: Pikolinos sandalet bruin-36-2 to Pikolinos sandalet bruin-36 manually and then it removes the option from the size selection as it should. If I do not do that the size stays visible and only after you add it to cart it gives you a message that the stock is 0. I have updated the stock for size 37 to 0 as well, but left the SKU as automatically generated: Pikolinos sandalet bruin-37-2 so you can see what I mean.

I hope you can help me with this. Seems to me that I should remove the -2 from the sku’s, but I am not sure why or how the plugin is generating this or where I can maybe manually change this. If you can point me into the right direction that would be much appreciated.

    Hey @dbrom1 !

Thanks for getting in touch regarding our WooCommerce Product SKU Generator plugin, I’ll be happy to take a look at this for you.

I’ve checked over the code and can’t see a specific section which would intentionally add the -2 that you’re seeing. Is this happening for all of your shoe products or just this one in particular?

It would be great if I could take a further look at your site, as this would give me the chance to try and replicate this locally with the exact settings you have in place. If you’d like me to go ahead with this, can you fill in the support form on our website so we can pick this up for you?

Look forward to hearing from you! Any other questions, please do let me know.

    Cheers,

    Hi,

    Thanks for the quick reply!

Yes, will do so. I am filling out the form as we speak. Hope we can find a solution to this issue. Thanks for the wonderful support so far.

    Kind regards,

    Donny

    Hi there

Could you please share the solution to this problem?
I have external/affiliate products from different vendors but with the same name. This means that I want an SKU to be displayed in the permalink so that the product name won’t have “-2” at the end.

Please let me know if this is possible, and also what I need to enter on the permalinks section to make this happen.

    Many thanks.

..I’ve added “SKU Shortlink For WooCommerce” into the mix, I don’t know if the two plugins are compatible or if one could do what I want.

    Please help!

    Hey @dewaalman,

As the two issues may be unrelated, we’d need to take a look at your site to determine what’s causing the issue on your end. Can you fill in the support form on our website with more details of your issue and we’d be happy to help?

    Thanks!

    Tamara
