What’s in the template you’ve appplied to each page?

First idea, in the template you’ve applied to each page you’ll need to modify the query to fetch posts only from the ‘events’ category. Insert the following just before the Loop:
query_posts('category_name=events');

Make a second template, similar to the first, for the blog page except
query_posts('category_name=blog');

Second idea is to create category templates then link to each category in your navigation.

Final idea I have is to create a “Page of Posts” template and apply this same template for a page but with a custom field category=>Events and a second page with the custom field category=>Blog (the custom field needs to have the category name, not the slug ie. Events not events).

I’m now trying to pull in the ‘event’ posts into a sidebar widget (similar to the default recent posts widget, but I only want the event posts). Any ideas on how I can achieve this? Thanks again!
