• HI
Hopefully am in the right place
I have a website, hosted privately by a photo website company. From this website i have a blog with www.ads-software.com so the blog is also hosted by them.
    https://www.yasminesamiry.com/blog

Now i wish to have another blog associated to this website (and hosted by them again) let′s say
    https://www.yasminesamiry.com/blog2
I want this other blog to be different from my first one as to theme, content etc.
From reading support websites and forums, I believe I have to create a network of sites (multisite).
or that is not the right direction? (which way is it then?)
I tried to follow steps for creating a network but get stuck from the beginning, maybe not the right thing to do?

and another extra question if i may…Can i change the name of the URL for example instead of https://www.yasminesamiry.com/blog it can be called https://www.yasminesamiry.com/travel
Can i do this within wordpress or i need also to do something within the website or hosting company?
I guess if i buy a domain name this could be changed easily with the domain company.

I am not very technical but self taught my way into wordpress so sometimes i think i lack some skills and get stuck.
hoping someone can point me in the right direction or help out asap thanks

  • You don’t need to use multisite to have more than one WordPress installation on a single domain, but it can certainly make things more convenient.

Assuming you have access to the filesystem (via FTP, for example) and access to create new databases (via a hosting control panel, for example) you could try to just install a new WordPress site in the directory of your choice, like /travel/.

    thanks Leland
No access to file system etc.
but i would like my two blogs to be different and use different themes etc. and not only be a subdirectory of my first blog, if that is what you meant.
Seems this can be done easily with wordpress.com, to add a blog and also manage one blog to another. So am looking to do the same with .org
seems am not really understanding the multisite concept then….

No access to file system etc.

In any case, you’d really need your web host’s cooperation then.

    You have two options:

    1. Install multisite on your root domain, and have subsites live in subfolders. Get rid of what’s in /blog/ and let multi-site take over.

    2. Keep what’s currently in /blog/, then install a separate WordPress installation in /travel/.

But like I said, unfortunately you’ll be kind of stuck if your web host isn’t willing to help. You might want to consider one of the recommended WordPress hosts instead.
