    Hello,

After the latest update, I noticed 2 bugs:

    1. On the checkout page, although I’ve got “Hide shipping costs until an address is entered” ticked, the shipping cost appears now before any address is entered (See here: https://prnt.sc/qwgjye). I believe this has something to do with the introduction of the new “Geolocation” feature, as when I play around in Woocommerce -> Setting -> General -> Default Customer Location and select “No Location by default”, then it doesn’t show shipping costs anymore without inputting an address. But with this option, a new problem arises as there’s no placeholder for the Country dropdown (see here: https://prnt.sc/qwgikv).

    2. If I select a default form value for a variation, then the product gallery images just below the main image (these ones: https://prnt.sc/qwgmbo) become unresponsive for around 10-15s. By unresponsive, I meant that you try to click them and they don’t change. This persists only on mobile.

I’m using Astra theme + Elementor and everything is up to date.

If you need any more details about this, I’ll be happy to give them. If you need URL or anything, I’ll give them only in private.

  • @vladc-1 For the first point I have checked the previous versions of the WooCommerce but I am able to see the placeholder in that too. So I think this is not a bug.

For the second point I think there may be error in your console please check it and let us know. It would be great also if you provide the screenshot of the console. So that I can check and let you know the best possible way for this. I think there may be any other plugin which is conflicting with the woo-commerce plugin. Please check the second point by deactivating all the plugins except the woocommerce. And if it still presents then please let me know with the screenshot of the console.

I agree with there being bugs in 3.9 version. I have “Hide shipping costs until an address is entered” and have set the default customer address to have Shop base address, only to be able to get the country to show correctly. However it tries to estimate the postage (using Australia Post calculator) based on shop base address, before customer has put in an address.

I previously had the customer location set to Geolocate but changed it because of the warning about Maxmind Geolite info and didn’t have time to investigate what is required.

So question to Woocommerce, is do you need to have the Maxmind Geolite database set up done to be able for it to go back to normal where country is shown and the customer can enter address in before shipping costs are shown.

Also, if you choose No location as customer location, for Australia, GST is not calculated until address is put in. Needed to change 5 sites to Shop base address for this to work today otherwise all prices were showing without GST included. Granted it was going to be added when customer entered address at checkout.

Is there some good documentation about the significance of Default Customer Location as it is impacting significantly on ecommerce if the incorrect choice is made. Your current documentation has minimal info.
