A word of warning, real 2-factor authentication combines something you know (your password) with something you have, separate from the entry point, like a phone or security fob.

The idea is that if someone has access to your computer, they still won’t get in, because they don’t have your phone.

An email-based 2-factor authentication method defeats its own purpose, because if they have access to your computer, they have access to your email too.

There are plenty of phone-based 2-factor authentication options available, like https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/google-authenticator/ and https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/authy-two-factor-authentication/

I found a way of switching off Simple Firewall features and funilly enough, when I felt ready to risk switching the 2 factor logging-in on again the emails were sent correctly.
