2 Gibibyte limit .tar
-
BackWPup Version 3.1.2
Outputs a maximum 2*1024*1024*1024 – 1 bytes.
2,147,483,647 byte .tar filePHP 5.3.24
Set to “Tar GZip”
Set to “Backup to Folder”No error message that not all files backed up or maximum file size reached. Extracting gives “tar: Unexpected EOF in archive”
Didn’t complete making the .tar into a .tar.gz file.
When I excluded a large folder, BackWPup displayed warnings it hadn’t before, about file names too long (correctly). So it didn’t attempt to back up all files, it died before getting to check the file names.
Should split the backup into multiple files if needed. Setting option for split size? 2 GibiByte, DVD, DVD9 (double layer DVD), or custom.
Should warn if an individual file is too large to back up.
Would be good to explain the differences between backup types, this page covers it well, including which ones retain the full path names and file permissions
