I’ve just startet a fresh wordpress setup with sportspress 2.0.
Sadly I’m not able to create events… It shows the green success info but the event does not show up anywhere and is not displayable.

Interesting part: The id is counting upwards so it looks like the event has been created though.

EDIT: This is not my first install of a wordpress with sportspress!

EDIT: I’ve tried different teams, different dates – nothing has worked out yet

EDIT: Status shows 0 publish, 0 future, 0 draft, 0 private, 6 trash, 7 auto-draft, 0 inherit. Those 6 in trash probably are the sample entries I’ve deleted. What about those auto-drafts?

@sonezu Do you have any other plugins installed, or is it a fresh WP install with SportsPress?

I’m able to repro this but only if an event is created without a title or any teams selected. Could this be the case?

No other plugins besides those two coming with wordpress:
Hello Dolly and Aksimet. The setup is about 1 hour old.

I’ve selected two teams but no title as it was auto generated after hitting the button.

@sonezu Alright, so once you hit the button to publish, then click View Event, you get a “not found” error?

    (@sonezu)

Yes! Ooops, not found! And nothing in the event list as well.

@sonezu That’s definitely odd… Could you try flushing permalinks to see if that helps? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rss9qfMubw

I’ve changed that according to your video. Sadly it has not changed a thing. After creating that event the link still refers to an address with the id not the new title (which is probably still empty?).

Ok, I can pin down this bug. If I give that event a name it works flawless. So I guess the bug is not generating a title?

@sonezu Thanks for pinpointing the issue. You’re right, the event titles aren’t auto-generating when it is empty.

Looks like a recent WP update (possibly 4.5.1) introduced a small tweak when saving posts that may have affected this behavior. Turns out we can hook into the wp_insert_post_empty_content filter to fix this.

I’m working on a few adjustments for version 2.0.2, and will release an update shortly. See this GitHub commit for the auto event title fix.

@brian I updated the file from Github. Thanks! This worked for the manual creation of a event however I’m still having no luck for import. Can you make sure it’s not just my file. Thanks!

@aikan Thanks for your feedback. It looks like the event importer has also been affected by the auto-generated title issue. I’ve posted a fix for this and will be releasing an update shortly.

We’ve just released version 2.0.2 which addresses the issues with saving and importing new events. Please let us know if the update resolves these issues.

I updated to 2.0.2 and it still fails to create an event if I don’t put in a title (but do select teams, players, venue, season, competition). I’ve tried the permalinks flush and deactivating other plugins.

@corij Thanks for letting us know. We’ve done some further testing and have just released version 2.0.3, could you try again after updating to this version?

Can confirm that my problem has been resolved!
    Thank you!
