2000 comments breaks display of post

I’ve got a post with 2200 comments, displayed in pages of 50, which has been working fine up to now, but today since extra comments have been added, the post itself displays down to the point where comments should appear, then nothing more, nor does it continue to display the sidebar, which would appear in the code after the comments. All my other posts are displaying fine, so I’m assuming it’s the number of comments on this one that’s the problem. What can I do here?
