2011 Theme Keeps Updating & Costs for updating to Child theme

Hi,

I am using 2011 Theme on my wordpress. I had a designer design a custom header for me (with basically an Image & an Opt-In form). Everytime wordpress updates, I lose my header. This is because the header wasnt created as a Child Theme.

I have tried to disable the update using the config file but didnt have much luck. So Finally I changed the version number in the stylesheet to something very high to avoid updates and that seems to have worked. However, I do want my WP to stay updated to avoid security issues.

I was wondering would my best option be to hire someone to update my current design to a child theme to avoid this? If so, what sort of costs am I looking at to achieve this?
