2014 Theme: How do I alter gutter space in main content area?

In the main/primary content area of the 2014 theme, the white gutters are too wide, and I’d like to reduce them. I don’t have a lot of experience with .css, but have gone through both the .css and rtl.css files, and cannot find a way to do this.

Any help would be appreciated.
