• ever since I upgraded, rules in my htaccess file are no longer being followed. before I was able to block jerks from trying to spam my site who constantly try to go to a page that doesn’t exist. the rule would just take them to my hosting companies error page rather than my 404, therefore saving me bandwidth. Any fixed for this?

    Thanks

  • I may be wrong but WPs htaccess file might have been written over.

    has some good tips

Why not just use Bad Behaviour and a few other awesome anti-spam plugins? =P Also, when doing upgrades.. you should make backups of your .htaccess file..

Once the upgrade is done, if something goes screwy.. you’ll always have the backup. ?? That happened to me already sigh.. Another thing was.. my host had apparently was messin with my htaccess file before.. and things were changed on me, had to chmod it 555.. but, I dunno for sure.

    I’m NOT a htaccess “professional” though.. =P

Bad behavior doesn’t work with my host and it doesn’t allow you to block access to non-existant URI’s…

I did make a backup of my htaccess and it wasn’t over written.

It was all working perfectly before and nothing about it has changed…

I’m still having this problem and its only getting worse… Can anyone help? The htaccess rules that I had before were working just fine, now they are not. I go and try to block an IP address that has been doing this just like I did before, but they keep coming back…

    Thanks in advance…
