    Hola.

Today I tried to get a new theme up and running. When I tried it out, all I got was a blank page, even when accessing the admin panel. I take it wordpress crashes because I used a foreign character (?) in the theme name.

With a blank admin panel it’s quite hard to choose a new theme. I’ve tried to delete the theme, but it’s still blank. And making a new theme with the same name doesn’t help. Naturally.

Anyone know a way around this except deleting the whole thing?

  • If your theme is called “bad” then you deleted the wp-content/themes/bad folder and still have the problem?

If so, might consider using phpMyAdmin on the wp_options table and change the “template” and “stylesheet” option values to “default” (assumes you have the default theme installed).

I see this topic is resolved, however I have the same issue. I believe this happened to me when changing themes also. I have deleted the “bad’ theme folder and I have used phpMyAdmin to make the modifications to the wp_options table as above, also change “current_theme” to “default.” I do have the default theme installed.

I still only get blank screens. I see in “wp_posts” that ALL my posts are there – I just can’t seem to get WordPress to display them anymore.

Any other things I might try?

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks so much MichaelH, that tip resolved the issue for me.

The strangest thing however was that my site was working perfectly after upgrading to 2.8.2, until it suddenly broke last night around midnight. I suspect the WP-super-cache plugin had something to do with it… the problem doesn’t exactly seem to have originated with my theme, which worked fine after I got back into my admin panel and switched back to it from ‘default.’
