• Hi,

I saw that this was a common issue for 2.05, but it’s still present for me in 2.06.

I have successfully installed WP, and received my admin password. But when I go the the wp-login page, I cannot get logged in. I hit submit and that’s it. WP is thinking (I can see page loading in the status bar) but it actually never refreshes.

After having extensively searched the forums for help and having tried manually changing the code based on various instructions I found, I came to the conclusion that none of the solutions offered are working.

I am working on with the following:
    Apache/1.3.33 (Win32) PHP/4.3.11-dev
    Windows NT DMZ-WEB 5.2 build 3790
    PHP 4.3.11-dev
    MySQL 3.23.49

I am absolutely stuck at this point and would appreciate any help that can be offered.

    Thanks so much!

Just a quick update on the situation.

If I let the login script run for over a minute, I finally get to the dashboard. Once I’m in, the entire admin panel is nice and fast. However, when I try to get back to the dashboard, it once again takes about a minute for the page to load.

It appears that the problem i’m having is limited exclusively to the dashboard.

    Any ideas?

I DL’d 2.0.6 earlier today and have since installed in on four different servers running FastCGI and two that do not run FastCGI. I had absolutely NO problem of any kind.

In the past, I had avoided 2.0.5 because of the conflict with FastCGI.

BTW: I never saw the problem as you have described it with 2.0.5. The problem I had was at sign in it responded with a message that the files had been moved because the path to wp-admin was incorrect.

The development team can take a bow now and go back to emphasizing the 5 min INSTALL. … Its slick as a whistle. Thanks to all!

    Actually just found the issue.
My server does not allow outbound communication (i.e. reading other site’s feeds) which is exactly what is happening on the Dashboard page. This feature caused the page to “hang” for a while…
