2.3 version of breadcrumb.php question
-
I am currently testing the new 2.3 update on my development site.
I am trying to resolve ‘outdated copies of WooCommerce template files’, one of which is the 2.2 version of breadcrumb.php.
I have noticed that the new 2.3 breadcrumb.php has updated coding, and I cannot find any discussion or announcement of this change.
I have a copy of the 2.2 version of breadcrumb.php in my twentyfourteen child theme with the addition of this code:
https://www.cryoutcreations.eu/forums/t/wrong-breadcrumbs-displayed
This code has successfully enabled ‘historical’ breadcrumbs on my site, necessary because my client has many products in multiple categories and requested that the breadcrumbs show the parent category page the customer has just navigated from rather than woocommerce selecting from multiple categories alphanumerically and always showing the same one regardless of where you’ve just navigated from.
On my test site my child theme does still work properly in this respect, using the amended woocommerce 2.2 version of breadcrumb.php.
So the question is can I happily continue using the bespoke 2.2 breadcrumb.php I have, or should I really utilise the new 2.3 breadcrumb.php, in which case how can I safely incorporate the ‘historical’ code amendment or achieve the same result in some other way?
