I installed WordPress 2.7 in one of my subfolders. At first, this problem did not occur. Later on, when I try to login to wp-admin with my password, it does not give me access inside. I am positive my password is correct. The monitor screen remains in the same page with my username, but the password disappears.

Assuming you’ve tried Resetting Your Password with no success, here’s some things to try:
    1. logout or logout with https://www.yourdomain.com/wp-login.php?loggedout=true
    2. clear cookies and cache (or any cache)
    3. exit browser
    4. make sure local firewall is not causing problem
    5. login with https://www.yourdomain.com/wp-login.php
    6. disable all plugins–if necessary read How to deactivate all plugins when not able to access the administrative menus?
    7. temporarily rename .htaccess if possible

If WordPress is installed in something other than the root folder please take that into account for the above url examples

Please let us know what does solve your problem.

A couple of weeks ago I couldn’t log into my editor account at centerleft.info, even though I used the exact same password I’ve always used. When I tried to get a new password, WordPress said my email address was invalid.

Our chief administrator has been ill and lives in a different State. He made myself and the other editor administrators about a week ago. The other editor changed my password when she became an administrator (actually she changed it to my old one) and that seemed to work.

Today, I once again can’t log in to my (now) administrator account. Our chief administrator is still sick and the other administrator is indisposed.

I tried clearing my cache, clearing cookies, and exiting firefox. I’m no coder, so the other remedies you suggest are over my head. It’s very possible that it’s a plugin incompatibility, but it seems that I’m the only one affected, which I find strange. Can you help today? Thanks. Nina

    Hi, MichaelH.

Thanks for your advise. I have not tried your advise yet, because my computer office is behind firewall. I intend to try it at home.

However, let me tell you this. The unsuccessful login takes place when I type the url https://mydomain.com/wp-admin. When I tried https://mydomain.com/wp-login.php, as suggested in your advice, it worked! I was able to gain access.

Let me just observe for a period of time if this will still work.

    Thanks.

    Percival
