• Just upgraded to 2.5.1 and get the “HTTP Error” (see this picture) after uploading an image using Firefox 2.0.0.14. There is a “Dismiss” button partially obscuring the “Crunching” field.

The media gallery does show the picture – so it was uploaded. But no thumbnail was created.

I tried all things in the sticky “2.5 Image/Media Uploader problems” to no avail.

My website is hosted on 1&1 (USA).

…well, maybe disabling “Simple Tags” isn’t a complete solution after all.

I just got the dreaded “HTTP error” again…but after uploading about 7 images.

…the picture I had problems with was one that was straightened and cropped within Picasa.

I went into the “Originals” folder and copied the original photo to a new folder. Then I used Irfanview to rotate it and then crop it. I saved the file and then used the Resize Image powertoy to get it to 1024×768 (max).

I uploaded it in WordPress without any problem.

(this is just one image, remember, maybe it was a fluke that it happened to be an image manipulated in Picasa…)

Don’t use the resize image powertoy. You have IrfanView, which has far, far better resizing functionality in it.

This isn’t about Image Resizer vs Irfanview — its about WordPress not creating thumbnails for some uploaded images after returning an HTTP error [well, that’s my problem at least!]

However, if a bug in either of those programs is the culprit then sure, we need to go after them.

Hmm… the “HTTP error” is a generic message, but essentially what it is saying is that the script receiving the upload did not fire or otherwise did not complete successfully. So naturally, it’s probably not going to make thumbnails properly in such a circumstance.

I agree. When I disable Flash then I see “internal server error” message.
Interestingly, I see it less often (almost, but not quite never) when I disable the Simple Tags plug-in).

Any idea why SimpleTags might interfere?
Any idea if the server logs the error in more detail so it can be debugged further?

I am getting this error when I upload images

    Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2038: File I/O Error.

dose any one have a solution
    my site is https://www.myslavelake.com
    I am using wordpress 2.5.1
I did a fresh install and still had this problem

I get this error with this web host A small orange https://www.asmallorange.com/
    I don’t get the error with https://www.familywebhosting.ca/

I summited a ticket with a small orange their support was good but they could not fix the problem

I noticed If I scale the image to a smaller size I have no problems. I only have the problem when the image is very large. Some people are posting that wordpress is having a hard time making thumbnails of the large images. This is looking like the problem.

please let me know if scaling the image helps

I have tried all of the remedies recommended on this thread. None worked.

I am able to upload. and thumbnails are showed on the homepage, but for post level pages, the images are missing.

    Ok,

My symptoms are as follows. I am using WP 2.5.1. I access the admin panel through a redirected link to the WP Admin login window from Joomla. I have seen on other forums as well that in such cases where one is accessing the admin window through a redirected URL, then there are problems with the Media Uploader. I can upload images fine. It is when I try to insert the uploaded images, or images from the gallery or library, that my screen goes blank, and I cannot proceed any further. The image is not inserted into the post in this case.

So now, I logout, and login using /wp-admin. Images insert into post just fine. THere had been suggestions in some posts that accessing the admin front-end through tabs cased a similar problem, but I could not reproduce this. From my end, it seems more like a redirect issue. Accessing the admin front end from the meta tags also works fine. I however to not want to leave the meta on my public site. I need the redirect because I also have other authors for my wordpress, who are not as tech savvy, and will not always remember to type in the /wp-admin to enter the admin panel. Any ideas Otto42??

    Any ideas Otto42??

Yes. Don’t use the redirect thing.

Sorry, but that’s simply all there is to it. WordPress’s image insertion stuff is all javascript, and you’re violating a domain name, so the browser (correctly) disallows the insertion. Browsers do this to prevent cross site scripting attacks.

The domain name in the URL MUST be the same as the one WordPress thinks that its URL is. That’s all there is to it.

Otto42 would you be able to provide me some assistance?

I have done everything suggested in this forum, including what you told jmdziba. I always login to the cp via /wp-admin.php. I am able to upload images just fine. I upload my pictures and add the gallery into the post.

The post renders with the thumbnails on the homepage when published, but when viewed in an interior page (post page) I get no render.

    What could be causing this?

You’ll have to give us a link to the pages with the problem so we can see it ourselves.

What do you have set as the site and home url’s on the Settings->General page? These cannot be blank or incorrect, they must have the correct settings.

both are https://www.lakerscore.com — I did that because wordpress is installed on root
