    Hi,

I installed Backupwordpress on a site today (26/3/2013). About half an hour later an upgrade became available. I upgraded and then got this error message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected end of file in C:\xampp\htdocs\derail\wordpress\wp-content\plugins\backupwordpress\admin\actions.php on line 532

This happens on my live site and on localhost.

    Cheers,

    Mel

Sorry guys, totally stupid mistake on my part.

I’ve released 2.2.3 which fixes the issue.

I just wanted to extend my appreciation for the fact that this update has wiped out my site and hundreds of hours of my time building it. There doesn’t seem to be a way to recover it even though i have a back up file for the database…my site is run through a marketing company who will not give me access to Cpanel or a file manager of any kind. The tech has been working on it for a couple days. no dice.. musicwiththeking.com and the last 6-8 months of building it have gone to dust..thx ! I just went through this with a wordfence plug-in last week..

That site loads fine, assuming you’ve since resolved the issue?

At the most that update will have caused a fatal error, the fix for that is fairly simple, just connect to your site via FTP and rename / remove the plugin, that will get rid of the Fatal Error / White screen.

The update can not possibly have been responsible for deleting your site or have caused you to lose work.

That site had content..6 months worth.. now it has nothing. I cannot connect via FTP. I do not have access. Absolute Marketing does. They claim to be working on it and say it will be restored by the end of the day. Its been 3 days since the update caused the error. The irony is it is a back-up plug-in that caused it. I figured the plug-in was a fail safe for an issue such as this. Granted the update may not have deleted the site but if it had of updated properly we wouldn’t be having this chat.

Unfortunately your lack of technical knowledge is getting in way of us having a reasonable conversation about this, it’s obviously regrettable that I released an update to the plugin which caused a fatal error on servers running PHP 5.2, however that error cannot cause you to lose content, or cause your FTP not to work, those are unrelated issues which you should take up with Absolute Marketing.

Did you come here looking for support or just to rail against the guy that puts a lot of time into plugin which is given away for free for the good of the community and which thousands of people use and find useful?

    musicwiththeking

    (@musicwiththeking)

I have taken the issue to them thank you. I accept your apology.. In terms of bashing my technical knowledge,You may have a point I am not a programmer or someone that has time to invest in a free plugin. I may be taking my frustrations out on the wrong person for that I apologize.
    Thank you for your time.
