Quick posting of text images from front page

Hi all, ive been looking for a few hours, but cant seem to find anything that provides this. Im looking for a way to allow authors to post small snippets of text to a blog right from the front page. Very similar to the Prologue and P2 themes, but with one addition. I need it to be able to upload/add images/embedded video etc.

Does such a beast exist? Thanks for any pointers.
