During the ardrous manual installation of v. 2.0.11 (which is required because the Premium Template 11044 purchased form Template Monster will work only in versions 2.0-2.5 — unable to edite sidebars, as “is not widget aware”), I got the following error messages on the first browser screen after visiting ” https://www.pattybrooksdove.com/wp-admin/install.php” ::

WordPress database error: [Table ‘diamycom_wp2011.wp_options’ doesn’t exist]
    INSERT INTO wp_options (option_name, option_value, option_description, autoload) VALUES (‘template’, ‘default’, ”, ‘yes’)

WordPress database error: [Table ‘diamycom_wp2011.wp_options’ doesn’t exist]
    INSERT INTO wp_options (option_name, option_value, option_description, autoload) VALUES (‘stylesheet’, ‘default’, ”, ‘yes’)

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/diamycom/public_html/pattybrooksdove.com/wp-includes/wp-db.php:102) in /home/diamycom/public_html/pattybrooksdove.com/wp-admin/install.php on line 16.

I can get into the Dashboard, but the site itself (www.PattyBrooksDove.com) is not visible despite having to create a “themes” folder in wp-content/themes and uploading the template files properly ….. and, I can’t even get into my DB’s to “repair” or enter the required values (as apparently prompted to do), as I am stuck using cPanel 11-Accelerated …. for which there are no detailed instructions whatsoever.

Does anyone have a solution for this particular problem, OR the means to resolve my original issue using v. 2.7 and the TM Template 11044 as posted and STILL unanswered here???

It’s rather difficult to fathom why some legitimate posts are ignored, and other bantering issues are clamored over ….

It’s rather difficult to fathom why some legitimate posts are ignored, and other bantering issues are clamored over ….

This is a volunteer-only forum. Everyone puts their time in here as a labor of love. No questions are “clamored over”. People just want to help. Obviously easy questions are answered first. Vs having to spend half an hour investigating someone’s specific problem. Plus certain types of questions are not within the realm of someone’s expertise, and thus are not addressed. Or (and this is not so in your case, but in quite a few) the questions asked are either so generic, the person does not post a URL, or what they want to do goes so against the grain of the way that WordPress works, that it feels like its not worth the time trying to educate them. That is part of open source software – it requires a degree of do it yourself – if not willing to do that then buy a commercial product with support…

As far as your issues, from your other post – the sidebar details are not edited within the dashboard but generally within theme template file sidebar.php It takes about 15 minutes to “widgitize” a theme when one knows what they are doing.

You are asking for potentially a lot of trouble if you run WordPress 2.0.11 Along with feature additions, one of the reasons for WP upgrades is to repair security holes that have been found. There are lots of hackers who spend their nights looking for sites running older unpatched versions of WordPress. They have the scripts to hack into those sites. I have repaired a few that have been knocked off the web. If you really want that theme, suggestion is pay someone to upgrade it to 2.7 I’ve not done it so I have no idea what the cost would be.

You also are going to have trouble finding someone here to answer support questions about a version of WordPress that is 3 years old. People just don’t use that version any longer, so few are going to be up on the intricacies of it. In my opinion Template Monster is doing their users a disservice by not keeping themes THEY ARE SELLING up to date. Plenty of WP theme authors who GIVE THEIR THEMES AWAY go through the hassle of keeping their themes updated as WP evolves.

phpMyAdmin works on ANY version of cPanel, which by the way, is an excellent product. Just click the button for PhpMyAdmin in the database section.

Here are some general tutorials on phpMyAdmin
    https://www.webhosting.uk.com/phpmyadmin-tutorials.php
and on this page you will find some specific toWordPress . The examples use the cPanel X theme, so you have to find your way into phpMyAdmin first, but once in there it is the same in all versions of cPanel. https://tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/

wish you an excellent resolution to your issues.

The site is most likely not visible due to php errors and you have the display_errors directive set to off in your php.ini file. Set that to on and restart Apache and you should get some more information on the errors and you can continue troubleshooting from there. cPanel should have a way to access your db’s. If not, do you have shell access to the server? You can log into your MySQL server that way and check the db tables and create them if necessary. I also commented on your other post.

I understand completely, as I am very active “Figure” in a number of Forums myself (Google me!), which probably explains why I posted with as much info as possible, even when ignorant! LOL I recently retired as Moderator in a few of them after getting somewhat burned out dealing with the same old tedium and pervasive lack of “Forum Decorum”….

In my opinion Template Monster is doing their users a disservice by not keeping themes THEY ARE SELLING up to date.

Again, I couldn’t agree more! The worst part of it is that this template was purchased from one my own TM sites for a client, and this obviously illuminated a huge dis-connect on their entire program, if even I (who is not unfamiliar with all things WWW to begin with) ran into this “unforeseen” issue!

The only solution I could develop with any degree of confidence was to send the template off to a programmer with all the refences and “WP Codex” resources for a re-write/update to 2.7 format, which will not only solve this singular client issue, but will leave me with a coding patch that can be applied to other templates as needed in the future.
Something TM should provide across the board, as we all know! Even though this project will end up costing me rather than earning a small percentage, it will be useful for the future builds, as well as gave me cause to be much more careful to really evaluate every little detail about products and programs from now on — just like it was way back when I was a newbie!

Thanks to each of you who took the time to offer comments and insight — I appreciate every effort made on my behalf!

    With Regard,
    Vasili
