    Hi,

    at the moment I’m updating all my WordPress-Blogs from 2.7 or 3.0 to 4.1 per “one click” in wordpress-admin.

    At the first view all blogs were successfully updated to 4.1. Then I wonder why in some theme-folders are sometimes theme twenty-fifteen, twenty-foruteen, twenty-thirteen and in another theme-folder only twenty fifteen.

    Is it possible, that wordpress didn’t download/updated other files, too?
    (wp-admin-, wp-content, wp-includes-files)

    Example:

    DomainA.com -> Update 2.7. to 4.1 -> all themes are downloaded (2015, 2014, 2013)

    DomainB.com -> Update 2.7. to 4.1 -> only 2015 was downloaded

    Alle Domains are on the same hoster and webspace.

    Thank you,

    Dominik

  • Hi Dominik,

    You’re very welcome! Glad to be of service. As for your concern about missing strings or files, testing most certainly will help. But note that in the world of testing we generally test to prove something FAILS not passes. That is, to test whether something works would take infinite hours testing every conceivable user path, etc. And pretty much nobody has the time nor budget for this kinda thing. Thus, we setup to dispel the belief that something works the way it’s supposed to work. And, of course, we have a lot of time saving tricks up our sleeves to pull this off in a timely and cost efficient manner.

    That said, besides testing, if you’re concerned that a file failed to properly transfer during an update, you could just re-update the site. But, in the immortal words of so many before me, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” ??

    As for a missing string, meaning I am guessing some kind of database corruption, KEEP your pre-updated database exports handy, test, test, test, and if you’re super concerned seek out someone more knowledgable about what kind of database issues can one expect upgrading, for example, WordPress 2.7 directly to WordPress 4.1.

    But again, I’ll go back to those immortal words — “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” ??

    Have a GREAT weekend!!!

    Sincerely,

    Randy

    Hello,

    the “issue” is solved.

    All files were downloaded. Only filezilla didn’t show them correctly. If I close and open filezilla again, then all files are shown.

    But why is that? This problem exists since I’ve updated filezilla a couple of weeks.

    I’m sorry for this misinformation.

    Best regards,

    Dominik

    Hi Dominik,

    I am thrilled to hear you overcame the issue. “WHoot!”, as a coworker friend of mine would say. As for your FileZilla question, I Googled for “filezilla fails to list directory” and found a ton of info. If you haven’t already done so, that might be a good place to look.

    P.S., Please be sure to mark this thread “resolved” using the dropdown in the sidebar. It saves other volunteers from looking into questions that have already been answered. ??

    Sincerely,

    Randy
