2.7 Editor sucks!

  • What is it with this editor? I try and add breaks after paras and WP strips the damn things out! Even I do it in HTML view eg <p><p> as many as you like, no good, WP strips them out.

    This is on top of all the bugs in the image editor component that I’ve complained about elsewhere (and still no response on that one).

    This is really disappointing, as it is I post from Marsedit which is pretty minimal and then edit again in WP. It’s becoming a real chore to manage 2.7

  • I agree….WP text editor sucks big time whether you have a clean install or not. I’ve created a few hundred blogs and static sites using it and the text editor is always the same…..crappy. WYSIWYG my arse! More like WYSIWY Could Get….if you’re lucky, and forget about using the TinyMCE Advanced for anything other then regular text editing, you start getting into tables and you’re in for a real treat dealing with stripped tags and broken html. I think it would be great if the developers took this issue a little more seriously instead of brushing it off with the “You probably didn’t install WP correctly” BS. Just my 2 cents.

    Jurgen posted above about offline editors which are used to create the posts which are then uploaded. Could any one suggest one for me please. I am currently using the WP Advanced Code Editor which is much better than the in the box editor however i’m still having some problems with tables and according to ‘selfmade..’ its not worth me trying TinyMCE. Any tips guys?

    I too have problems with the editor. Basic stuff like adding spaces between the lines, often does not work when I view the result. I type in a line, I press enter, I press enter again, I type in something else… go to preview… the two lines have no space between them (other than a line-break).

    (I don’t use WP as a blog tool, I use it for a basic website, I type in stuff in the Pages panel)
