Upgraded to 2.7. Wrote a post, uploaded an image, everything went fine. That was yesterday. Today, I tried to upload a file…an image but I’ve also tried text files. I get the message:

File is empty. Please upload something more substantial. This error could also be caused by uploads being disabled in your php.ini.

I’ve tried both IE and Firefox, flash uploader and browser. I tried changing directory permissions. I re-uploaded 2.7. I ran through all the suggestions in the sticky post about uploading problems (including the .htaccess).

I don’t know what could have changed in 24 hours but it’s driving me crazy. Any other ideas?

The blog is hosted with godaddy – being going great for months until today. Seems like quite the coincidence that as soon as I upgraded, uploading stopped working…after 1 picture.

I forgot to include that I did check my php.ini and didn’t see anything in there about not allowing uploads. I hadn’t touched it so I didn’t think that was the cause anyway. I did try changing one parameter, suggested by someone else haveing this problem (register_globals changed to “on”)…no dice.

And now, today, it’s working. I love it when things randomly fix themselves…

I have been unable to locate the php.ini file. Some direction if you can help. I’m on a basic shared Linux hosting service. Thanks.

Mine was in the root directory. If your service offers a file manager, log on and browse that way, or look with an FTP client (I recommend Filezilla).
