Hi Tobias –hope all is well. We have a 2700+ row table on this page. Works OK on the frontend (website visitors), but very very slow the backend (within Tablepress), literally unresponsive there. The client also reports that “saves” after import of the .csv take forever (file is only 200K). Chrome works sometimes. Safari never works. Any insights/suggestions would be most appreciated.

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

It’s a known issue that the “Edit” screen is slow with many rows, but unfortunately, I don’t yet have a solution. I’m already working on a completely rewritten “Edit” screen that will also be faster. In the meantime, my suggestion would be to first try a different browser, as there can be significant differences, e.g. between Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.

Another method would be to keep editing/maintaining the table offline, e.g. in Excel, and then re-import a saved CSV or HTML file into TablePress, replacing the existing version of the table – just as you did now. (If you use this process, I would recommend CSV as the format as the import is more robust.)
If you want to change table settings, I recommend doing so after importing a small temporary/intermediate table with just a few rows, change the settings as desired, and then import the actual (big) table.

    Regards,
    Tobias

Thanks Tobias. You are always so responsive ?? I have shared your feedback with the client, re-confirming similar suggestions I previously passed along for editing the file locally and importing the updated file via CSV.
